kota comes from Dakota, her middle name, chosen by her father.
It means forever smiling.

Every morning, someone hacked open a fresh coconut right in front of me. Salt in the air, no hurry, the whole morning shifting with one small thing.

Back in LA, $12 at the café. 15 minutes making it myself. The ritual was there, the time and money weren't.

I looked for it everywhere. It didn't exist. So I built it.
